MORH About Us

Owned by Rich and Mary Penick, the store’s name was inspired by Mary’s namesake, Maureen Opal Ryan Hinks (MORH). Maureen (Mary) loved anything that reminded her of family. A ring. A tea cup. A dish. She made bread and cooked using a wood oven (and won a baking contest for her efforts). Gathered milk from her sister’s farm and used it to make home-made butter and ice cream. She talked often of her family’s farm outside of Falun, WI and of her walk to the one-room school-house (up hill in the snow, both ways). She instilled the love of nostalgia. And the importance of family.

The store is also inspired by Mary’s Dad, Gerald (Jerry) Hinks. He grew up in Siren, WI, where his parents owned Les’s Store. Mary and her siblings lived and worked in the store as youth and her parents later converted it into an auction house back in the early 80’s, where Mary and her siblings helped with the auction venture. While run-down, the building is still recognizable to locals driving through the south side of Siren, with the barn-shaped home attached to the old store.

Rich and Mary offer items throughout the store as Vendor MORH #25. Other vendors rent space in various locations throughout the store. Some with two or more booths. Each vendor offers items that align with the store’s areas of focus. While most items are antique or old to newer vintage, some vendors also offer a variety of items that have been re-purposed or are hand-made.
